Grammar: Lay

Niles lays down on the bed. He lays back his head and looks at the ceiling while he smokes a cigarette. He feels tired from his hard day. He speaks out loud, saying how he feels. He speaks into a mike, recording what he is saying. He lays bare his feelings about work and home. He lays awake for a long time on the bed. Then he gets up, and takes off his clothes. He lays the clothes on the bed and walks into the bathroom and takes a shower. Then he lays out his agenda for the next day and makes changes. At dinner time, he lays the plate on the table very carefully and quietly. This is his regular routine.
