Episode Notes
Hey, good morning there.
Good morning. How you doing?
Great today. How about you?
I'm just fantastic, thank you. What's that in your cup?
This is a cup of the bean.
Cup of the bean. Some java.
Java. I've got black coffee.
Got your morning joe. Hey,
my morning joe. How about you? You don't have Morning, Joe.
No, I'm not a coffee drinker. This is chai. Chai tea.
What is chai tea? I've heard of it, but I don't know what it is.
Oh, man. That's that's Oh, man. That's a tough question. Um, I I believe that chai is basically it's the word for tea in south southern India.
Okay. Yes.
But I could be wrong.
Right.
And it makes sense. It's very similar to the Japanese cha.
That's right. Okay.
Um or I think a lot of countries have a similar expression. So, it probably comes from the same root. But,
yep.
Chai tea is often described as spiced tea. It's often described as Indian spice tea. But, um all the chai teas I've looked at and looked at the ingredients and so on, it's a combination of four spices,
okay,
mixed in with black tea. And the four spices are cinnamon, ginger, clove, and black pepper.
Oh, that sounds nice.
Yeah. So, that's I I believe that's basically what chai is. There might be anis or something in some teas as well, but um basically chai tea is four spices.
Let me ask you a question then. Did you make your chai tea by making black tea and adding four spices?
No. No, this one was a a pre-made mix, but I do I do do that sometimes. Um, and she how to she likes making shai tea using um a special type of tea which is the the tea leaves are rolled.
Okay. Okay.
And I I'm the name is I'm blanking on the name right now, but the tea leaves have been rolled up
and maybe eight Ed.
Okay. Are they rolled before they're dry?
Possibly. They're rolled wet and then they dry so that they become little compact little balls. So then when you when you uh steep them,
yes.
Then they they unccurl a little bit and then you get more flavor. So they're quite a a strong flavored tea. But again, I'm blanking on the name. But the best the best chai would be if we made using that tea.
Um And instead of making it in water, you make it in milk.
You make
directly in milk.
So you heat up milk in a pot and then you put the tea leaves directly into the milk.
Yeah.
And you kind of simmer it a little bit.
Um and that gives you a really rich milk tea. Um and then you you put all the herbs and everything, all the spices right in there.
Okay.
And then at the end you you strain them into your cup and then you get a really really rich cup of spiced tea.
One more question.
Yeah.
Is your tea sweet?
Yes, it is. I I put honey in it.
Okay.
Honey and and in this case, soy milk cuz like you, I'm off milk at the moment.
Hey, is there a special reason for you to get off milk?
Uh I'm fighting fleg.
Oh,
fighting.
Yeah, I I've I've always had a lot of uh sinus issues.
Yep.
Um and blowing my nose, flemma in my throat and so on. So uh Chia suggested cutting milk. I cut milk and it's probably improved 60 70%.
Right. Right.
Yeah. Milk is is has a big influence on our body.
Difficult to process for a lot of people.
What did you say? difficult for to process. A lot of people have difficulty processing milk, whether it's a stomach issue or or whatnot. But anyway, um
yeah,
got to go to work.
You do. Come on, share it. Want to hold you up. Okay. Get work done, too. Okay. See you next week. Thanks. Bye. Bye.
