Episode Notes

Hey. Hey, Ed. Are you there?
Hey, Les. How you doing?
Oh, you surprised me. What's up?
What's up with you?
Oh, actually, I've got a pretty busy day today. I've got lots planned and it's all really structured nicely. I'm going to get a lot done today. I'm looking forward
work related things.
You know, my life is starting to blur. I don't know what's work, what's not work.
It's all good. Yeah. You got any uh any free time or uh anything coming up? Any plans?
Well, you know, I I got a free ticket to the expo,
but I've decided
why not?
No time.
Make time.
The truth is I could make time. Yeah, it's possible. But on the one hand, my son would like to go to the expo. On top of that, I think it's more valuable that he go to the expo than I go to the expo. Number three, expo would be great. Enjoy it, but I'm just as happy not going to the crowds.
Right. Right. So, are you giving your ticket? You giving the free ticket to your kid or
That's right. That's right.
Yeah.
Where where did you get a free ticket from?
I worked for the Canadian International School part-time.
Ah, yeah.
So, they what they gave all the staff free tickets or something? I'm not sure what their reasoning was. They had six tickets at Mitch. They got six tickets and they wanted me to have one. So, I got when I was I was in the right place at the right time.
Yeah. Yeah. Excellent. What's the expression we want here? Never lift Never look a gift horse in the mouth.
Exactly. Plus,
smile. Smile and smile and say thank you.
Yes. Exactly. Thank you very much. The schools up in Tokyo said they don't give it to staff up there because it's more of a
That makes sense. Yeah. And you
Yeah.
How far would it how long would it take you or how far is it from where you are to the expo site?
One train.
See, for me it's it's three trains and about 90 minutes.
I can get there in about 25 or 30 minutes.
Very nice.
Really nice. Yeah.
But but have you heard much about the expo?
I've had quite quite a few students and friends have gone. I haven't gone yet, but um the basic uh overall best advice is don't worry about the big ones because they require reservation. They're a bit tricky. But the smaller pavilions you can just go and enjoy and everyone seems to have had a good time. People I know who went to big ones who reserve, they could only go to two or three in one day.
That's right.
And they had to stand in line and and but they enjoyed as well. But people who did not do that, they went to 10 or 15 or even 20 pavilions in one day.
Yeah. Yeah.
I would I would say it seems to be there's a variety. Whatever you like. If you want the big the big fancy ones, that's fine. If you want little ones, that's fine. Um, a few people have been to the Canada Pavilion and loved it, so that's that was nice.
Yeah, the is it sounds to be uh quite successful this year.
Yeah. Um and of course the usual, you know, popular ones, USA, France, Germany, Australia, of course, Japan.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Um and the big the big ring, is it called the big ring? The big wooden ring that goes around the whole thing is also uh I think quite spectacular. Um largest wooden structure in the world. I didn't hear that part. That's cool. Yeah.
The the largest wooden building in the world is in Canada. Um I know that this is the largest wooden structure. It's not a building, it's a structure. So it's a different category, but
yes, I thought the largest wooden building was the temple in Nara.
Ah, very good. It was the largest wooden structure in the world, but they built something in Canada about 10 years ago that is bigger. But as you know that the big Buddha and N is the largest indoor Buddha in the world.
Okay. Yes.
And the building over it is the largest wood and a fab fabulous structure considering it was built I don't know when hundreds of years ago.
Thousands like more than a thousand I think.
And it's and it's just one big hall basically. So I mean that whole roof the whole structure is it's spectacular. But that is a topic for another day.
That's right. I couldn't agree more. I've got to get going here. Okay.
Yeah, me too. Bye.
Thanks for Bye-bye.
