Done.
Ohoy.
Good morning. How are you doing?
Excellent, sir. How you doing?
Well, I've been having an awesome week and it's just getting better.
Oh, good. Good. Anything in particular?
Um, I I've been working on uh some listening practice and I got my recording studio set up here. I'm in it right now
and the sound is awesome.
Oh, good.
Much cleaner sound. Yep. You What's up? Um, same old, same old. Uh, but I've got a little quiz for you today.
Okay.
Um, this is one I've known the answer to this for a long time and I always like it and I always ask people and they always get it wrong. Um, because it's kind of funny, but originally the question was, "What's the most dangerous animal in Africa?"
Okay, I know.
But I've actually I've just found Well, if you ask in Africa people, what would you guess most dangerous animal in Africa?
The hippopotamus. That's what most people say that answer and it's an interesting answer, but I just found stats for 2022 deadliest animals worldwide.
Okay. Now, deadliest, is that in the uh in terms of how many people they actually kill or how many people or how quickly they're capable of killing you?
Deadliest animal worldwide by annual number of human deaths. So, how many people actually die from those animals each year,
right?
The number one animal kills on average a million humans a year.
And it's probably uh um what do you call it? Mosquito.
You got it. Bimbong. Very good.
That's right.
That's a tricky one. And a lot of people would also argue and say the most dangerous animal is the human.
Yes.
But talking about not not including humans. Okay. Can you guess the next let's say the top 10 any of the top 10 after mosquito? Mosquito is number one.
Yeah.
Number two. is much less deadly. 100,000 deaths a year on average. Number three, 30,000. Number four, 20,000.
N I'd be I'd be lost.
Hippopotamus is in there. Hippopotamus is Let's see. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10th.
Wow.
11th.
They kill on average 500 people a year.
That's a lot of people.
Yeah.
For a big animal like that,
according to this uh this data.
Okay.
Oh, come on. Give me a guess.
Guess guess.
Hippo was a good guess.
Scorpions.
Scorpions are not on there.
Okay. How about spiders? I'll be general with spiders.
Nope. No spiders.
Snakes.
Very good. Snake is number two.
Which snake is it?
It's just snakes plural. So all of them combined. So that would include
Yeah. Okay. So, uh, next one we're going to go down to, um,
number three really surprised me.
Poisonous fish.
No, number three is not poisonous at all.
Okay. Uh, bears.
Nope. Number three is an animal you see every day of your life. Probably
dogs.
Number three is dogs. Very good.
Really?
Mosquitoes, snakes, dogs.
Oh. for me.
And then I would say four, five, six, seven. You will never ever guess. Number four is freshwater snails.
Okay. Sisteriasis, that's a disease in Africa.
Okay. And I assume you get from slicing your foot on them or from them what? Sliming you.
Um yeah, as far as I know, um it can actually go into your directly into your body through the skin.
So if you You're on you. Yeah.
Number five, I've never heard of assassin bugs.
Don't know it. That's beyond me.
Number six, tetsy flies.
Tootsie fly, I think.
Tootsie flies. I've heard of that. Yes. And it denu fever.
Yeah, baby. And then number six is roundorm.
That's surprising. I didn't know it was deadly.
I've I've seen it. Um and it's gross.
Yeah, they're really horrible things. You get these little gross curly cube bugs inside under your skin and it's really gross looking.
Yeah.
Anyway,
and those ones that are under the skin, they gave rise to the snake wrapped around the the pin, you know, the medical symbol.
Medical symbol. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Because they used to cut the skin and then they would get the end of this thing and they would roll it up on a stick and pull it out.
Pull it out. Neat.
So that was a symbol of medicine.
So it's not a snake. It's a It's a worm.
That's right.
That's what I
crocodiles.
Crocodiles. Okay. Yes. I
your guess. Hippopotamus. Elephant. Lions. Buffaloos.
Wow.
And then deer and bees. That's the about the top 15 on the list.
Wow. Kind of surprising.
Happily, in Japan, we only have the top three.
Okay. mosquitoes, dogs, and snakes. But
yeah,
but we're good anyway.
That's right. That's right. We're good. I'm more worried about volcanoes and typhoons and earthquakes.
True that. True that.
Yep. So
anyway,
anyway, that's pretty cool, but I I I've got a lot to do here today.
So, all right, I'm gonna have to get going.
See you later.
Okay, take care. Bye. Bye. Good.
Ohoy.
