Lucy’s Journey
Story 5: The Team Project Morning Meeting The computer screens glowed in the dim classroom. Lucy sat with her new team - David the former chef, Maria the art teacher, and Tom the delivery driver. Ms. Rodriguez had given them their biggest challenge yet: build a working website in one week. The fresh coffee in Lucy's cup grew cold as they planned their project. Different Ideas Maria wanted bright colors and fancy designs. Tom thought the site should be simple. David suggested a restaurant theme. Lucy stared at her notebook, watching her teammates disagree. Her stomach felt tight. The project deadline seemed closer with each passing minute. Finally, she took a deep breath and shared her own idea - a website that helped people find local cooking classes. Git Troubles The team loved Lucy's idea. They split the work into parts. Lucy would handle the main page. Everything went well until she tried to share her code with the team. Her changes disappeared when she pushed them to Git. Red error messages filled her screen. She wanted to cry. Then she remembered Ms. Rodriguez's words about asking for help. Tom knew about Git and showed her how to fix the problem. Working Together The week moved quickly. Lucy's bedroom became her coding space. Empty water bottles sat next to her laptop. Her cat watched from the windowsill as she typed late into the night. When Maria's design wouldn't work with the code, Lucy didn't give up. She found a way to make both the code and design work together. Presentation Day Their website wasn't perfect. Some buttons were the wrong color. One link went to the wrong page. But when they showed it to the class, people smiled. They liked how the cooking classes connected to David's chef experience. Ms. Rodriguez nodded with approval. Lucy looked at her team with pride. They had built something real.
