"Nutmeg, this is one of the original spices of the spice trade.
The spice trade has been going on for a long time.
The spices were grown in the warmer climates around Java, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
And then they were traded up into uh northern countries in Asia.
And then from there, it hit the the spice trade or the the the trade to Europe and Europeans became aware of it.
Then they came along and in their age of expansion and discovery and they found where they could get these spices from and took over the spice trade as much as they could.
Nutmeg was one of the prime targets, black peppers, cloves and nutmeg.
And the nutmeg was highly praised for its great flavor.
Today.
Nutmeg is used still in cooking and it's got a great flavor.
I like nutmeg and pumpkin pie.
And it's also used in some drinks.
In fact, actually, nutmeg doesn't have a lot of cooking uses.
It's kind of got a few uh narrow range cooking uh dishes where you can put nutmeg.
But after that, you don't need it very much.
And incidentally nutmeg if, if you take too much you can get, um, drug, like effects from it.
But there's a problem with that because you need to take an awful lot of it, I guess.
I don't know.
And it can make you sick and it can even kill you if you take too much.
So let's keep it on the side of just spicing up our meals.
It's great in coffee.
I think.
I'd like to try and put some in my coffee sometime and other warm drinks.
It really adds a warm nutty and spicy flavor, but it's not a hot spice.
It's not like ouch, ouch, hot, hot spice.
It's a more of a nutty yummy spice if you could say kind of, kind of like coriander.
But once again, different, go out, buy some nutmeg, add it to some of your favorite hot drinks."
