Hi and welcome to the Les bears dot com podcast.

This podcast is for extensive English listening.

So every day I'll make a new podcast about a different topic.

That way you can hear lots of different vocabulary and you don't have to listen too long.

Two or three minutes at best.

Hi and welcome to the Les press dot com podcast.

You're listening to 281 or the 281st episode of my podcast today.

I want to talk about turning truck alerts.

I don't mean the lights.

Those are ok.

I mean, the audible alerts.

My classroom is on a corner near a very, very busy intersection, uh, somewhat busy, not too busy, not really too busy, but there are trucks that turn there when the truck comes to the intersection and they turn on the signal, we hear a loud voice and a beep, beep, beep, beep and it says I'm gonna turn left, I'm gonna turn right.

And sometimes I look out the window and there's no people around who's listening to this noise.

If it's really an alert, then people need to know about it.

But I think nine times out of 10, nobody's there.

It's making noise for no reason at all.

And I think that that's noise pollution, it's unnecessary and it's wasting energy.

What about artificial intelligence? A I might be able to make some kind of sensory motion or sense around the truck to see if the alert is necessary.

And then if it's not necessary, don't make that noise.

Keep the world a quieter place.

You know, I really, really value quiet.

And then if the A I finds that there's some people walking by, especially old people or Children, then it can turn on the alert and it can tell them, hey, hey, I'm gonna turn and then it's a good time for that.

But most of the time it's just a waste of energy, a waste of noise and disrupting people's lives, for instance, even right now I'm making my podcast.

I'm just lucky there's no trucks turning outside so that you don't hear the beep, beep, beep in the background.

I wish they'd turn off those alarms.

And I honestly can't see that it's such a dramatic influence that we need those alarms.

I don't think people are dying from this after all, trucks are big.

If a truck is moving and turning, you should be able to see it, but that's just my pet peeve.

Well, I'll stop there for now.

Let me know in the comments, what you think about turning truck signals.

Thanks for listening.
