Hi and welcome to the dot com podcast.

This podcast is for extensive English listening.

So, every day I'll make a new podcast about a different topic.

That way you can hear lots of different vocabulary and you don't have to listen too long.

Two or three minutes at best.

Hi, and welcome to the less Paris dot com podcast.

Today's episode is episode 266 and it's about wheat.

Once again, it's something that I don't know very much about, but I like to think that I know something about it because I grew up in Saskatchewan in Canada.

And that was back then.

The wheat bowl, the wheat bowl of Canada, the wheat bowl of the world.

It's no longer the wheat bowl of the world.

That's ok.

They still grow a lot of wheat there.

And when I was a boy, I saw a lot of wheat fields because we had to travel between cities.

Sometimes it was flat and there were no trees and there were vast fields of wheat.

And in the spring, the farmers would put the wheat in the ground and then in the fall they'd harvest.

And I remember having seen lots of giant combines, harvesting the wheat, huge fields of flowing golden wheat.

Now, that was the other thing, the old people when I was growing up, they used to say it's a beautiful golden color.

But for me, it was yellow, brown and it wasn't beautiful.

It was drab and yucky.

I always was much more interested in greens and blues.

But those golden wheat fields.

Well, in my mind today, they are kind of golden and the wheat that comes out of them, it's yummy and it makes great bread.

On the other hand, wheat also has some things in it, like gluten, which are not good for some people's health.

Have you tried going on a wheat free diet or a gluten free diet? If you go on a gluten free diet, you might find some changes in your body and in your health, I think wheat is yummy.

But these days I eat a lot more rice than wheat because I don't get hungry as fast and it's gluten free.

So it seems to me that it's a bit safer anyway.

I still eat some wheat.

I still eat some bread.

It's yummy.

I would never give it up completely.

Go have a nice wheat product today and enjoy, see you next time.
